Fat of the land was the third studioalbum from Prodigy
The album was released in 97 and became the bands most succesfull record to date selling more than 10 million worldwide. Making "The Fat of The Land" a milestone in Prodigy´s Career and in 90s Music in general.
The title comes from the old english phrase 'living off the fat of the land', which means living well or being wealthy.

Bandmembers
Liam Howlet is the bands main composer. The brain and mastermind behind the beats and samples.
Maxim Reality is the bands main vocalist and MC at liveshows and also features as composer on 2 tracks on The Fat of the Land.
"The fat of the land" was the first album to feature vocals by Kieth Flint who before had been categorized as dancer. He had ben through a major change of apperence before the shooting of the video for the first single "Firestarter"
Leeroy Thornhill was member of Prodigy from 1990 to 2000 and as Kieth Flint, he was an energetic dancer at the bands live performances.
Leeroy Thornhills dance moves is often thought of as a predecessor an inspiration to melbourn shuffle.

Second single was Breathe also released in 96. A sort of duet featuring vocals from both Maxim Reality and Kieth Flint.
Smack My Bitch up
Smack My Bitch up made some controversy because of the lyrics, though the band claims it is not to be taken litteraly, it is about "doing anything intensenly...." The video directed by swedish Jonas Ã…kerlund won "Best Dance Video" and "Breakthrough video" at MTV Video Music Awards in 1998.
Prodigy Live
